Introduction

The Singer footswitch is a variable resistance speed controller, in this case, for a 6211C.

Speed Control

The speed of the motor for the Singer 6211C is controlled by a variable resistance carbon pile in the footswitch.

Stepping on the footswitch applies pressure on the carbon pile, reducing its resistance from 150Ω to 50Ω.
